Mandy Nwobu – Principal Lawyer

Mandy Nwobu began her legal career in the Legal Department of a merchant bank in Nigeria, gaining a solid foundation in corporate and regulatory matters. In 2005, she became a partner at Sowers and Messuarius Solicitors, a full-service law firm with expertise in real estate, commercial, energy, maritime, corporate, and investment law. As the only female partner among five, Mandy played a key role in managing the firm’s four branches and a team of over fifteen lawyers with diverse specializations.

In 2014, Mandy was admitted to the Ontario Bar and has since focused her practice exclusively on immigration law. She is an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitration and the American Bar Association. Her experience includes interning with the Criminal Division of Legal Aid Ontario, volunteering in criminal law, and articling at the Crown Law Office – Civil, Ministry of the Attorney General on Bay Street, Toronto, where she continued to serve after her articles.

Mandy is deeply engaged with both the Nigerian and Canadian communities. She is active in numerous organizations, including the Rotary Club, Scarborough Business Association, Canadian Association of Black Educators, Belka Enrichment Center, Anambra State Association, and the Igbo Canadian Community Association, serving on the boards of many of these non-profit groups.

Fluent in Ibo and experienced in cross-cultural legal environments, Mandy has established strong professional networks across Nigeria, the United States, and Canada. She is committed to helping immigrants, international students, and families successfully navigate Canada’s immigration system, providing guidance on visas, permanent residency, citizenship, family sponsorship, and more.

Mandy is also a writer and editor, with unpublished articles and plays reflecting her passion for storytelling and advocacy.
